{"id":154,"date":"2009-03-10T18:42:49","date_gmt":"2009-03-11T02:42:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.budgex.net\/blog\/?p=154"},"modified":"2011-05-14T10:23:56","modified_gmt":"2011-05-14T18:23:56","slug":"social-settings-are-exceptions-to-complete-frugality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.budgex.net\/blog\/2009\/03\/social-settings-are-exceptions-to-complete-frugality\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Settings are Exceptions to Complete Frugality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The purpose of this blog is to help you save money.\u00a0 And there are always times when you need to make a decision between doing something and paying money for it, or not doing it and keeping your money.\u00a0 Obviously if you want to save more, you will choose not to pay.\u00a0 But every once-in-awhile that decision falls into a gray area; an area whose optimal decision depends on an entirely different measurement of success.\u00a0 One particular example of this is\u00a0 money vs. social personality.<\/p>\n<h3>Sometimes You Have to Spend to Stay Cool<\/h3>\n<p>The truth is this happens all the time, and in many cases it&#8217;s just too hard to avoid.\u00a0 You may be out with friends or co-workers and <em>know<\/em> that you can get another round of bowling for free with that deal you found yesterday, but you just have to suck it up and pay the fees to avoid looking like a <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/blog\/outgoing\/icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/01\/funny-pictures-angry-grey-cat-sulks.jpg');\" title=\"LolCats\"  href=\"http:\/\/icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/01\/funny-pictures-angry-grey-cat-sulks.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">social outcast<\/a>.\u00a0 And if you don&#8217;t pay, there&#8217;s always the personal loss of not being able to partake in the activity.\u00a0 I am writing to say that you <strong>should<\/strong> sacrifice a little in these scenarios to keep you and your friends happy.<\/p>\n<p>But there are exceptions to the exception too.
